Steelbach is looking for an experienced fry cook to join our culinary team.  Steelbach is a Michelin-recognized, Southern-inspired kitchen and chophouse on the Hillsborough River at Armature Works. We cook grass-fed, grain-finished beef from our own rancher partner over live fire, and we serve fresh, seasonal Southern food at lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. This is an evening position, covering dinner service through close.

What You’ll Do

• Set up, run and break down the fry station for each shift
• Bread, batter and fry menu items to order, consistently and to Steelbach recipes and plating standards
• Manage oil: keep levels and temperatures correct, filter and change oil on schedule, and keep fryers clean and safe
• Time fried items to match the other stations so every plate goes out together, hot and con time
• Prep for your station, including dredges, batters, sauces and portioned proteins
• Follow portion control, labeling, rotation and storage standards
• Keep your station, walk-in and work areas clean, organized and sanitized
• Help on the line or grill when needed

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum of 2 years of professional fry and kitchen experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant
• Experience operating commercial fryers in a professional kitchen
• Knowledge of proper frying techniques, food quality, and presentation
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety
• Reliable, motivated, and able to work as part of a team
• Florida food handler certification required (ServSafe a plus)
• Availability for evening shifts (approximately [4 PM]–close), including weekends and holidays, plus occasional weekend brunch shifts
• Reliable transportation and a team-first attitude

Physical Requirements

• Remain standing for extended periods throughout the shift
• Able to stand for a full shift in a hot kitchen and lift up to 25 lbs
• Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with varying noise levels
